The historic Erzurum Congress building, once an Armenian girls' boarding school, now run as a painting and sculpture museum and gallery.
On September 30, 2026 the Ministry’s listing showed this museum as closed to visitors. Check the official page before planning a visit.
The museum is housed in a building with a remarkable past. It was built in 1864 by Mıgırdiç Sanasaryan and served for years as the Sanasaryan College, an Armenian girls' boarding school. In 1919 it hosted the Erzurum Congress, an important step in the founding of the Republic of Turkey.
A fire in late 1924 destroyed the wooden parts of the structure. After repairs it reopened in 1926 as Gazi Primary School and later served as a fine arts high school and a social sciences high school. One of its halls became an Atatürk and Erzurum Congress museum in 1960.
After a restoration carried out between 2011 and 2013 by the Grand National Assembly, the building was handed to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Today it operates as a painting and sculpture museum and gallery, a place where the story of the building is as interesting as the art.

According to the Ministry’s listing it opens at 00:00 and closes at 00:00.
