A restored 1865 Ottoman mansion in Amasya, on old fortification walls beside the Yeşilırmak river, opened as a house museum in 1984.
On September 30, 2026 the Ministry’s listing showed this museum as closed to visitors. Check the official page before planning a visit.
The Hazeranlar Mansion stands in the Hatuniye quarter of Amasya. It was built in 1865 by Hasan Talat Efendi, who held the post of treasurer while the celebrated poet Ziya Pasha was governor of Amasya in 1864-65. It is named after Hazeran Hanım, who lived here for many years.
The house rises on ancient fortification walls on the bank of the Yeşilırmak and has a basement and two upper floors. It is organised in two sections, the haremlik and the selamlık, and its plan is based on a central hall with four iwans and a closed inner courtyard. It is regarded as one of the outstanding examples of traditional Ottoman residential architecture.
After the owners moved to Istanbul, the mansion stood abandoned for many years and was badly damaged. The Ministry of Culture bought and expropriated it in 1976, restored it, and opened it as a house museum in 1984.

According to the Ministry’s listing it opens at 08:15 and closes at 19:00 (last entry 18:30).
