A contemporary art museum in the village of Bayraktar, on a 40-decare site, where modern art and traditional crafts sit side by side.
The Baksı Museum rises in the village of Bayraktar, formerly called Baksı, in Bayburt. It is an unusual museum that puts contemporary art and traditional handicrafts under one roof, side by side and intertwined.
The 40-decare site holds exhibition halls, a depot museum, workshops, a conference hall, a library and a guesthouse. It began in 2000 as the personal dream of the artist and academic Prof. Dr. Hüsamettin Koçan, who was born in Bayburt and wanted to bring his life's experience back to the land of his birth. The Baksı Culture and Art Foundation was set up in 2005.
Thanks to many volunteers, above all artists, it grew into a genuine community project. The main building was completed in 2010 without any state funding. The museum was introduced at Istanbul Modern in June 2010 and opened in July, and the Depo Müze, its new exhibition hall, opened in 2012.

According to the Ministry’s listing it opens at 08:00 and closes at 17:00 (last entry 16:30). Open every day.
